Theology student Ian accidentally saves the gravely wounded mafia don Dante in a church shootout. Dante becomes obsessed with the cold, ethereal seminarian, but devout Ian resists his relentless pursuit. When Ian's gambling-addicted father sets the orphanage ablaze and sells him into a humiliating underground auction, Dante descends like a god of death to rescue him. Their bond begins to subtly shift.
